Over 135 countries
In 2021, more than 135 countries set the goal of net zero greenhouse gas
emissions,
and the International Energy Agency (IEA) published its first net zero plan,
providing a blueprint for countries to follow.
Reduce carbon emissions by 800 billion tons
From now till 2050, hydrogen could reduce cumulative carbon dioxide emissions by
80
billion tons, accounting for 20% to the total emissions reductions. Reaching
this
goal would require using of 660 million tons of hydrogen, it’s 22% of final
global
energy demand. Hydrogen has a central role to play in helping the world meet its
net-zero emissions target to limit global warming to 1.5C.
Annual demand for hydrogen will rise to 130 million tons
Under the carbon peak scenario in 2030, China's annual demand for hydrogen will
reach 37.15 million tons, accounting for about 6% of the terminal energy
consumption, and the production of hydrogen from renewable energy will reach
about 5
million tons. Under the carbon-neutral scenario in 2060, China's annual demand
for
hydrogen will increase to about 130 million tons, accounting for about 20% of
terminal energy consumption, and the production of hydrogen from renewable
energy
sources will be about 100 million tons. China will become the world's largest
hydrogen market by 2050, and the development of green hydrogen is of great
significance to the realization of the "3060" dual carbon target.
